Sharks go 1-1 on the day The St. Louis Sharks battled hard Saturday morning but came up short against Montabella, falling 13-6 in tournament action. Despite the loss, the Sharks showed fight at the plate with eight hits and several strong individual performances. Zacharko led the Sharks offensively, going 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Hoyt also had a big day at the plate, collecting two hits and scoring a run, while Strong added a double and crossed the plate once. Raby and Russell each chipped in with hits, and Wonch scored twice while reaching base with a hit and a walk. The Sharks showed patience at the plate with four walks and also stayed aggressive on the bases. B. Inbody swiped two stolen bases while Hoyt and Russell each added one of their own. On the mound, Zacharko started the game and struck out five over three innings of work. Clark pitched the final three innings and added three strikeouts. The St. Louis Sharks closed out tournament play in dominant fashion Saturday, rolling past Houghton Lake 11-1 in a three-inning mercy-rule victory. The Sharks made the most of their opportunities at the plate, scoring 11 runs on five hits while drawing six walks and aggressively attacking the bases throughout the game. Inbody sparked the offense with a triple and scored once, while Strong drove in two runs on a hit. Hoyt added an RBI single and also picked up the win on the mound with a strong complete-game effort. Hoyt allowed just two hits and one run over three innings while striking out four without issuing a walk. Russell contributed a hit, RBI, and two stolen bases, while Harrison added a hit and RBI of his own. Wonch crossed the plate once and drove in a run, and the Sharks continued to pressure Houghton Lake with aggressive baserunning. Russell, Zacharko, Hoyt, and Wonch all recorded stolen bases in the win. The Sharks showed patience at the plate as well, drawing six walks and capitalizing on hit-by-pitches to keep innings alive. Defensively, St. Louis backed up Hoyt with a clean performance in the field to secure the convincing victory.
